Two sisters, Jean Winham and Robin McMacken, and two friends, Debbie Basnett and Dana Hookassian, bring their collective passions of interior design, antiquing, and traveling to Vintage Scout Interiors in historic Centerville, Ohio.
Vintage Scout Interiors is a full-service interior design firm with a retail boutique. The business is located in a remarkable 1831 two-story stone building that the Scouts bought in 2007.
Here's a look at the women behind Vintage Scout:
• Debbie Basnett
As a native of Atlanta, Debbie brings Southern flavor and sass to the business. "Scale is everything in design," says Debbie. She is the Scout most likely to bring something fun and funky into a space. Debbie is a member of the Dayton Society of Interior Designers. The Kentucky-West Ohio-West Virginia chapter of ASID presented her the Student Conceptual Design Award in 2006.
• Dana Hookassian
Dana is the uber-organizer and follows the basic tenet of interior design-form follows function-with incredible grace and wit. With degrees in business and management, she organizes and manages Vintage Scout with good humor, winsome style and boundless energy. Dana is our go-to Scout for paint color selections.
• Robin McMacken
As a writer, designer and stylist for such publications as the LA Times, Chic Mom, Distinction magazine and LA Weekly, Robin knows exactly how to shape a story, event or home in luxurious ways. Robin has styled many photo shoots and has worked as a visual merchandiser. In addition, Robin was a design assistant for award-winning LA-based wedding gown designer Amy Michelson.
• Jean Winham
Jean exudes a warm elegance that instantly beguiles clients-as well as friends and family. Her 16 years of design experience and sophistication are indispensable to Vintage Scout. The Scouts lean on Jean to go vintage with refinement and modern-day sensibility. This designer sees beauty in all objects, and she is the diva of repurposing and rejuvenating ordinary things.
